Last night I spent an hour or so designing engagement rings for a fictional couple that's a good five years from being married, longer if I don't get my ass in gear.

Oh nice, did you use that one site that lets you customize rings, Gemvara? I like to go there and mess with the customization sometimes even though I never wear jewelry. xD

I certainly did! It's such a neat site to play around with.

I find it hilarious that all the banner ads on sites I visit are Gemvara ads now. I'm all, "you know I'm just gonna poke around with your customization options and never buy anything" and they're all, "no, it's OK, come hang out"

I'm pretty sure no one actually buys from Gemvara, they just use it to make rings relevant to their fandoms. xD How they stay in business is a mystery.

Well, if they make the site easy to use and fun to play around with (and they invest a lot on cookie-driven banner ads), people will keep coming back just to look around. And eventually, the lust for shinies will win out. It's not that expensive to pick up a silver ring with semi-precious stones, and you made it yourself!

Also I was looking through the men's rings and I keep seeing these shield rings and omg they crack me up cause I'm sure Linkara would wear one, like this one looks like a Captain America ring!

Correct on the second try! X3 Linkara wears the peridot ring and Victor wears the sapphire ring.

The men's shield rings are epic! I can definitely see Linkara wanting one, but ... I'm also imagining him showing the pic you posted to Victor, eagerly asking what it reminds him of, and Vic just stares blankly at it for about a minute and says "American Gladiators...?"

Then Linkara gets all huffy and doesn't speak to him for a while.

God Victor you're such a Fake Geek Boy. Obviously he's just pretending to be a nerd to get in the pants of hot nerds like Linkara! tsk tsk

...holy shit, now I have an idea for an arc where some of Linkara's fans develop a head-smackingly stupid conspiracy theory that Victor is just using Linkara and doesn't REEEEEALLY love him, he's just with Linkara because [he's a video reviewer starfucker/he's got some plot to do him in and hasn't done it yet because SHUT UP/he's some kind of clone or android or something that Linkara created because nobody would REALLY date that loser]

You bet!

They're beautiful! The sunken settings are elegant and mean they would never get caught in stuff or chafe. That's very important in a ring.

Men's rings tend not to have huge protrusions the way traditional women's engagement rings do. (Which is one reason I like 'em so much.)

I haven't made a masterpost yet! I just have a giant TextEdit file and the beginnings of SPREADSHEETS :D

And I dunno what I'm gonna do with it when it's done – I had to put it to one side for university assignments and now I'm frantically trying to finish my Big Bang and make a plushie for Linkara :P
